HOPE CAN FAIL

1. Hope
a) The influence that motivates us to obey God is hope. A person without hope cannot be motivated to do good. If a person’s life is hopeless in their eyes, they become discouraged. What we hope for is what keeps us going.
2. Hope Can Fail
a) Hope can become idle. It must be put into practice (1 John 3:1-10).
b) Hope can become selfish. Example: Sons of Zebedee (Mark 10:35-41).
c) Hope can become materialistic as in the popular "prosperity doctrine" (Philippians 3:18-20, Colossians 1:22-23)
