JESUS & THE FATHER ONE GOD? (3)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
0. Introduction
a) How exactly are Jesus and the Father ONE? Was Jesus CREATED or has he eternally existed with the Father? Is our Savior the GOD of the Old Testament who created man and dealt with Noah, Abraham, Moses, the nation of Israel and all the prophets? How is the Father GREATER than our Lord?
1. Deity of the Old Testament
a) Consider the following verse in John 8:
i) "Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM.'" (John 8:58)
b) Implying He was Jehovah, Jesus alluded to the burning bush incident, in which the LORD stated.
i) "I AM THAT I AM" (Exodus 3:14).
c) Note carefully what the Jews wanted to do after Jesus made the above statement.
i) "Then they picked up stones to throw at Him."
d) Why did they want to kill Jesus? For making a blasphemous statement! They fully understood what Jesus meant by his statement. Christ also made several other statements about himself, especially in the gospel of John, that none of the bible's true prophets would even dare to make (see John 6:35, 14:6, 8:12, 15:5, etc.)
The End ...
