(Message by Tanny Keng)

Praise Him! Praise Him!

Hymn writer (lyrics): Fanny J. Crosby

Music composer: Chester G. Allen

Notes

Hymn writer Frances (Fanny) Crosby was a rescue mission worker who also wrote

lyrics and composed music.

She is credited with writing 8,000+ hymns, making her one of the most prolific

gospel songwriters in history.

Though becoming blind when still an infant, Crosby was able to write a plethora of

beautiful

and uplifting songs, many of which are still in hymnals and song books throughout

the world.

She wrote the lyrics to the hymn Blessed Assurance in 1873, along with countless

others.

Praising God

a) There are times when God is praised for His qualities of character such as his majesty (Psalm 104:1) or holiness (Isaiah 6:3). He is frequently praised for His work in creating everything, his care and guidance of man, and his redemption. The Psalms praise the Eternal for his goodness to Israel (Psalm 46, 48, etc.), his love toward people and the righteous (Psalm 9, 18, 23, 34, etc.) and for his many perfect attributes (Psalm 22, 24, 29, etc.).

b) Miriam, the sister of Aaron and Moses, sang a song of praise when God brought the Red Sea down upon Pharaoh's army and delivered the Israelites for good from Egyptian slavery (Exodus 15:20-21). The was much praise when King Solomon brought the ark of the covenant into Jerusalem's new temple (2Chronicles 5:11-13). The greatest praise will come when the End Time beast power is judged and the saints are resurrected to partake of what is called the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:1-7).

The End ...
