BIBLICAL VIEW | INSTRUCTION

1. Introduction

a) The privilege of having the ability to receive one of the benefits that are available for everyone who seeks GOD's Wisdom...

b) We are in an "information war" every day. Information to live by and base our behavior and thought-life on is a personal choice between two powerful sources:

i) The tree of the knowledge of good and evil which is occupied by Satan. This information source is always hostile to the plans and purposes of GOD's leadership and GOD's Kingdom in our lives.

ii) The tree of life which provides GOD-information for the transformation of our thought-life, imagination and spiritual heart. The source of this information system is GOD, His Word, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit of GOD.

c) We choose which information system we shall feed from and graft into our thinking and actions. Feeding from the correct source has the potential of keeping sin out of our life. "Thy word have I hid in my (spiritual) heart, that I may not sin against Thee" (Psalms 119:11 KJV).

2. An ability to receive instruction will be given...

Proverbs 1:8-9 King James Version (KJV)

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

a) How about it, Dad!

b) GOD gives the responsibility to parents to instruct the children, and the Holy Spirit will soften the children's mind (thoughts, heart, imagination) that they may receive the wisdom (the why) contained in the instruction.

Jeremiah 35:8-10 King James Version (KJV)

Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;

Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:

10 But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

Jeremiah 35:18-19 King James Version (KJV)

18 And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you:

19 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me for ever.

c) There was rewards for the children being teachable.

d) Their obedient attitude.

e) They honored their father, regardless of their age...

f) Authority is softened by tenderness; and only GOD can make the heart "soft" and open the "movie theater of the mind" to GOD's instruction...

Job 23:16 King James Version (KJV)

16 For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me.

Acts 16:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

g) GOD instructs us through the words and actions of loving parents...

h) We find out where the boundaries are, how we are expected to behave in an unselfish way in and out of the home...

I) The results are children who love and respect their parents, and love GOD with their parents because that's where the "real love" comes from anyhow...
