SECRET THINGS OF THE LORD

A Response to "Secret Things of the Lord"
The Promise of Revelation
The prophet Amos declared a profound truth: "For the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets." God is not a distant, silent, or secretive God. He is a God who speaks, who reveals, and who shares His heart with those who are close to Him. The secret things of the Lord are not hidden from His people; they are hidden for His people. He reveals them to those who fear Him, to those who seek Him, to those who are positioned to hear His voice. The secrets of the Lord are not meant to be hoarded; they are meant to be shared. They are not meant to be hidden; they are meant to be proclaimed.
The Shadow of His Wings
The prophetic word begins with an invitation: "My little children, when you take refuge and hide in the shadow of my wings, not only shall you escape the storms of destruction but also you shall sing for joy." This is a picture of safety and intimacy. When we hide in the shadow of God's wings, we are protected. The storms of destruction may rage around us, but we are safe under His covering. And not only are we safe, but we also sing for joy. Joy is not just an emotion; it is a declaration of trust. It is a testimony of His faithfulness. When we take refuge in Him, our fear is replaced by faith, and our anxiety is replaced by praise.
The Renewal of Strength
The word continues: "And you who wait for Me shall renew your strength; you shall mount up with wings like eagles; you shall run and not be weary; you shall walk and not faint." Waiting on the Lord is not a passive activity; it is an active dependence. It is a posture of trust and expectation. When we wait on Him, He renews our strength. He gives us the energy to continue, the endurance to persevere, and the power to rise above our circumstances. Like eagles, we mount up. We rise above the storms. We see from a higher perspective. We run without weariness and walk without fainting.
The Secrets Belong to the Lord
Deuteronomy 29:29 declares, "The secret things belong to the LORD our God." There are things that only God knows. There are mysteries that are beyond our understanding. There are purposes that are hidden from our view. We do not need to know everything. We do not need to understand every detail. But what is revealed belongs to us and to our children forever. God has given us His Word, His Spirit, and His promises. He has revealed what we need to know. He has hidden what we do not yet need to understand. We trust Him with the secret things, and we walk in the things He has revealed.
The Secret of the Lord
Psalm 25:14 says, "The secret of the LORD is for those who fear him." The secret of the Lord is not something that can be bought or earned. It is something that is shared with those who reverence Him. Those who fear Him have access to His heart. Those who honor Him are trusted with His plans. Those who walk in humility and obedience are given insight into His purposes. The secret of the Lord is not for the proud or the self-sufficient; it is for the humble and the dependent.
Nothing Hidden That Will Not Be Revealed
Luke 8:17 reminds us, "For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light." There is a day coming when everything will be revealed. Every hidden thing will be exposed. Every secret will be brought to light. This is both a warning and a comfort. For those who have lived in deception, it is a warning. For those who have suffered in silence, it is a comfort. God sees what others do not see. He knows what others do not know. And one day, He will make all things known.
The Treasures of Darkness
Isaiah 45:3 promises, "Then, I shall give you the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of Israel, who call you by your name." The treasures of darkness are not hidden to frustrate us; they are hidden to be discovered. In times of darkness, in seasons of uncertainty, God hides treasures for His people. He stores up blessings in secret places. He prepares provision for our journey. And when the time is right, He reveals them. He gives them to us. He shows us that He is the One who calls us by name.
Final Reflection
The secret things of the Lord are for those who seek Him. They are for those who take refuge in His shadow, who wait on His strength, and who fear His name. God is not hiding from us; He is inviting us to draw near. He is not keeping secrets; He is revealing His heart. Do not be discouraged by the things you do not know. Trust the One who knows all things. Seek His face. Wait on His timing. And believe that He will reveal what you need to know, when you need to know it.
Prayer for Revelation
Lord, I thank You that You reveal Your secrets to those who fear You. Help me to take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. Help me to wait on You and renew my strength. Give me the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places. Let me know that You are the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls me by my name. I trust You with the secret things. I believe that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
