FINISH WHAT GOD STARTED

FINISH WHAT GOD STARTED

Bible Verse: Philippians 1:6

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

1-Minute Explanation

God is not merely interested in starting something in our lives; He is committed to His transforming work in us. Spiritual growth is a process. There will be failures, delays, struggles and seasons when we feel that we are not progressing. Yet God does not abandon His work simply because we have not reached maturity. His grace continues to shape us.

THE TWIST

The question is not simply, “Why am I not where I want to be?” The deeper question is, “Am I allowing God to continue His work in me?” Sometimes frustration comes because we expect instant transformation. God often works progressively, developing character through experiences, correction, obedience and perseverance.

WHAT CAN I LEARN?

I learn that I am a work in progress. I should not use my current limitations as proof that God cannot accomplish His purpose in me. At the same time, I must cooperate with God's work through obedience and spiritual discipline.

HOW DOES IT APPLY TO ME?

Where do I feel spiritually incomplete? What area of my character does God appear to be addressing repeatedly? Instead of becoming discouraged, I should cooperate with His transforming work. I can repent where necessary, learn from failure and continue growing.

FINAL REFLECTIONS

I may not be everything I want to become, but I am not who I once was. God's work in me is ongoing. My responsibility is to remain surrendered, teachable and faithful.

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for the work You have begun in me. Help me not to become discouraged by my weaknesses or imperfections. Continue transforming my character, renewing my mind and deepening my faith. Give me a teachable heart and the courage to cooperate with everything You are doing in me. Complete Your work according to Your purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.

TAKEAWAY

I am still a work in progress, and God is not finished with me.
