NUMBER TEN (10-13)

0. Introduction

a) In the Bible the number 10 is used 242 times in scripture and "10th" is used 79 times. A historically significant number, 10 signifies testimony, law and responsibility. The number ten is also viewed as a complete number, as is 3, 7 and 12. Ten is made up of 4, the number of the physical creation, and 6, the number of man. It is interesting to note what other mention(s) for 10 can be found in the Bible.

1. What are the 10 times God CURSED someone or something?

a) God's righteous curses are completed in a series of ten:

i) Genesis 3:14, 15, on the serpent.

ii) Genesis 3:17, the ground.

iii) Genesis 4:11, Cain.

iv) Genesis 9:25, Cainan.

v) Joshua 6:17, Jericho.

vi) Joshua 6:28, Achan, Joshua 7:12, Achan.

vii) Joshua 9:23, Gibeonites.

viii) Judges 9:57, Shechemites.

ix) 1Kings 16:34, Hiel the Bethelite.

x) Mark 11:21, The Fig tree.
