WISDOM OF GOD: THE BOOK OF PROVERBS (1)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
a) The topic of wisdom comes up over and over again throughout the pages of the Bible. One whole book (Proverbs) seems devoted to the topic and many verses in Proverbs have the topic of wisdom (often contrasted with foolishness).
b) Wisdom seems hard to obtain. Wisdom in general seems to bring our minds to someone with much experience or expertise in an area or someone who makes good judgments. Wisdom is different than having knowledge.
c) Knowledge is defined as having information through experience, reasoning or acquaintance. Whereas wisdom is the ability to discern or judge what is true.
Psalms 111:10
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!”
2. The Book of Proverbs
Proverbs 3:7
Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
Proverbs 3:7
Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
