THE PHILOSOPHY OF PRAYER, WORSHIP, AND SPIRITUAL DEPENDENCE

Introduction
Every genuine work of God begins with God. No ministry, however well organised, no leader, however gifted, no educator, however knowledgeable, and no institution, however established, can accomplish the work of God's Kingdom apart from His presence and power. Throughout the Scriptures, God consistently reminds His people that spiritual effectiveness does not arise from human strength, intellectual ability, financial resources, strategic planning, or organisational excellence. Rather, it flows from continual dependence upon Him.
Prayer is the primary expression of that dependence. Worship is the highest expression of humanity's response to God's worthiness. Together, prayer and worship form the spiritual foundation upon which every other ministry rests. Gratitude characterises healthy Christian spirituality.
The Scriptures repeatedly command believers to give thanks in every circumstance because every good gift comes from God.
Thanksgiving protects believers from pride.
It cultivates humility.
It strengthens faith.
It reminds the Church that every ministry opportunity, every answered prayer, every faithful servant, every publication, every student, every partnership, and every spiritual blessing originates from God's grace.

Fasting and Spiritual Discipline
Throughout biblical history, God's people occasionally practised fasting as an expression of humility, repentance, earnest prayer, and dependence upon Him.
Jesus Himself fasted before commencing His public ministry.
The early Church prayed and fasted before sending missionaries.
SDC recognises fasting as a valuable spiritual discipline when practised voluntarily, wisely, and with proper biblical understanding.
Fasting does not manipulate God.
It prepares believers to seek Him with greater focus and humility.
