NONE ARE GOOD ENOUGH

1. None Are Good Enough
a) No human can inherit eternal life by doing good things, being a good person, or trying to keep the commandments. The Psalmist writes, “Everyone has turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one” (Psalms 53:3).
b) Paul testifies that “All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one“ (Romans 3:23). All means every single human being who has ever or will ever live on this earth, in fact, “Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward and speak lies” (Psalms 53:3).
c) Matthew 15:19 agrees by saying, “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.” Mark writes, 7:21-23: “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, “thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.” All these evil things come from within and defile a man” (Mark 7:21-23).
d) Just as Jeremiah described “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings” (Jeremiah 17:9-10).
e) Again, Paul reiterates the state of humanity, “As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one” (Romans 3:10-12).
