MOTHERS OF KINGS: MICHAIAH
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. Mothers of Kings
a) Mothers of kings in 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles are often mentioned for their deeds. These mothers certainly had some influence in the young lives of their sons and in who they eventually turned out to be. There are many children with godly mothers who grow up and choose to do evil. And there are just as many children with bad mothers who grow up and choose to do good. But for the most part, the faith and the future of all children is shaped to some extent by the behavior, words and actions of their parents.
b) A child is a reflection of the woman who bore him or her – not only in appearance, but also in word, action, attitude and character. Mothers should never underestimate the influence that they and their faith have in their children’s lives. Mothers have the power to change the world by raising sons and daughters who will be bearers of light, proclaimers of truth, defenders of justice and forces of good.
c) Here we have one of the many records of mothers influencing their sons for good or evil.
2. Michaiah
i) Michaiah (2 Chronicles 13:2) was the mother of Abijah, 2nd king of Judah. It is not known when he was crowned, but he reigned for three years. The Bible doesn’t say whether he did good or evil.
2 Chronicles 13:2 New King James Version (NKJV)
2 He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
The End ...
