SEVEN SIGNS (4-4): THE IMAGE OF THE BEAST (REVELATION 13:15)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Revelation

a) John wrote Revelation while a prisoner on the Island of Patmos, approximately 85-95 A.D. Its purpose is to give encouragement and hope for all Christians to continue watching for the return and triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ. It also is to warn of the Final Judgment that nonbelievers will endure on that Last Day.

b) John wrote that Revelation is special because,“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near” (Revelation 1:3).

c) A brief view of the Book of Revelation. It gives you some basic understanding of the book of Revelation.

2. The Image Of The Beast

Revelation 13:15
15 And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

3. His False Religion

Revelation 13:15

a) Image of the beast

i) We have already noted the beast’s false priesthood. In this vision, the False Prophet makes an image of the previous beast and forces people to either worship the image or be killed (Revelation 13:14-15). While this is only a representation of the character of false religion, it is sobering to remember that people have actually been threatened with death if they refused to practice idolatry. This happened to Daniel and his friends (Daniel 3) and it happened to the early Christians (Revelation 6:9).

The End ...
