BASKET OF SUMMER FRUIT

0. Introduction
a) Amos had a series of visions concerning God's judgment on Israel. God was planning to judge Israel by sending a swarm of locusts or by sending fire. In spite of Amos' intercession on Israel's behalf, God would still carry out his judgment because Israel persisted in her disobedience.
1. Vision
a) Basket of summer fruit
2. Text reference: Amos 8:1
i) Thus the Lord God showed me: Behold, a basket of summer fruit. 2 And He said, “Amos, what do you see?” So I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” (Amos 8:1 NKJV)
3. Significance
a) The people were ripe for punishment; though once beautiful, they were now rotten.
