CHRISTIAN LIFE TRAINING (2)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

0. Introduction

a) As a great amount of training is needed for athletic activities, so we must train diligently for the Christian life. Such training takes time, dedication, energy, continued practice, and vision. We must all commit ourselves to the Christian life, but we must first know the rules as prescribed in God's Word (2 Timothy 2:5).

i) 5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. (2 Timothy 2:5 NKJV)

1. Text reference: Philippians 3:13-14

i) 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV)

2. Metaphors

a) Race.

3. Training

a) Focus all your energies toward winning the race.

4. Our goal as believers ...

a) Living the Christian life demands all of our energy. We can forget the past and strain for the goal because we know Christ' promises eternity with him at the race's end.
