ABOUT A GOOD (VIRTUOUS) WOMAN

1. What does the Book of Proverbs say about a good (virtuous) woman?
a) 11 A gracious woman is respected . . . ( Proverbs 11:16)
b) 22 Beauty in a woman without good judgment is like a gold ring in a pig’s snout. ( Proverbs 11:22)
c) 4 A good wife is her husband’s pride and joy. (Proverbs 12:4)
d) 1 Homes are made by the wisdom of women, but are destroyed by foolishness. ( Proverbs 14:1)
e) 22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD. ( Proverbs 18:22)
f) 14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD. ( Proverbs 19:14)
g) 21 There are four things that the earth itself cannot tolerate: 23 a hateful woman who gets married, and a servant woman who takes the place of her mistress. (Proverbs 30:12, 23)
2. The Biblical standard for a woman of good character
a) Proverbs 31:10 How hard it is to find a capable wife! She is worth far more than jewels!
b) Proverbs 31:11 Her husband puts his confidence in her, and he will never be poor.
c) Proverbs 31:13-27
i) She is always busy working (verse 13)
ii) She gathers food from many places (verse 14)
iii) She rises before dawn to work (verse 15 )
iv) She is wise enough to make money from land, then reinvests the profits in a vineyard (verse 16)
v) She works very hard (verse 17)
vi) She knows how to price the goods she makes and works late (verse 18)
vii) She not only makes her own thread but also her own cloth (verse 19)
viii) She is generous and merciful to those in need (verse 20)
ix) She makes warm clothes for her family so they are never cold (verse 21)
x) She wears quality clothes (verse 22)
xi) She makes clothing accessories and offers them for sale (verse 24)
xii) People respect her and her character (verse 25)
