GOSPEL ACCOUNTS FOUND ONLY IN LUKE (9)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
0. Introduction
a) Doctor Luke gives us the most detailed account of Jesus' birth. In describing Jesus' birth, childhood, and development, doctor Luke lifts up the humanity of Jesus. Our Savior was the ideal human. Fully prepared, the ideal human was now ready to live the perfect life.
b) Nevertheless, below is one of the Gospel accounts found only in Luke.
1. Events, miracles, and teachings during the months prior to Christ's death.
2. Scripture text references
a) Luke 10:4-7; 13:1-5
i) 4 “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! 6 “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 10:4-7 NKJV)
ii) There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:1-5 NKJV)
