JESUS CHRIST: THE JUDGE OF ALL MANKIND (2)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. Some biblical references which unmistakably establish that Jesus Christ is the Judge of all mankind.
(Romans 2:16)
“In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ….”
(Romans 14:10-12)
“For we shall stand before the judgement seat of Christ. For it is written: ‘As I live, says the LORD [Jehovah], Every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.’ So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.”
a) This passage of Scripture not only presents Christ as Judge, but clearly teaches that on the day of judgement everyone will bow to Christ; that is, everyone will acknowledge that Christ is the LORD God.
b) By introducing his quotation of Isaiah 45:23 with the familiar prophetic formula, “As I live, saith the LORD” (cf. Numbers 14:28, Isaiah 49:18, Jeremiah 22:24, Ezekiel 5:11, Zephaniah 2:9, etc.), and applying it to Christ, the Apostle Paul self-consciously and deliberately calls Christ Jehovah.
c) Note also that at the Judgement Seat of Christ, everyone will give account of himself to God. This passage is a powerful and unmistakable statement of Christ’s deity.
