SEVEN SIGNS (2-3): THE DRAGON'S DEFEAT IN HEAVEN (REVELATION 12:7-9)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Revelation

a) John wrote Revelation while a prisoner on the Island of Patmos, approximately 85-95 A.D. Its purpose is to give encouragement and hope for all Christians to continue watching for the return and triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ. It also is to warn of the Final Judgment that nonbelievers will endure on that Last Day.

b) John wrote that Revelation is special because,“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near” (Revelation 1:3).

c) A brief view of the Book of Revelation. It gives you some basic understanding of the book of Revelation.

2. The Dragon Makes War on Heaven

Revelation 12:7-9
7 And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, 8 and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole [a]world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

3. The Dragon Defeat In Heaven

Revelation 12:7-9

a) The devil and his angels fight a bitter war against Michael and the angels of God. The dragon and his angels could not prevail and lose the war. There was no longer a place for them in heaven and they were expelled (Revelation 12:7-9).

b) This vision signifies the solid truth that Christ in Heaven is supreme. "You are of God little children, and have overcome [the spirits of Antichrist] because greater is he who in you than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

The End ...
