SEVEN SIGNS (2-4): HEAVEN'S VICTORY SONG (REVELATION 12:10-12)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Revelation

a) John wrote Revelation while a prisoner on the Island of Patmos, approximately 85-95 A.D. Its purpose is to give encouragement and hope for all Christians to continue watching for the return and triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ. It also is to warn of the Final Judgment that nonbelievers will endure on that Last Day.

b) John wrote that Revelation is special because,“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near” (Revelation 1:3).

c) A brief view of the Book of Revelation. It gives you some basic understanding of the book of Revelation.

2. Victory In Heaven

Revelation 12:10-12
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,

“Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even [a]when faced with death. 12 For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who [b]dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.”

3. Heaven’s Victory Song

Revelation 12:10-12

a) While the victory song is sung in heaven, Satan is very angry as he realizes his failure and knows his time is short. He knows that his defeat spells his end. Cast down to earth, he has "great wrath knowing that his time is short" (Revelation 12:10-12).

b) Whilst we know Jesus is far greater and stronger than Satan, we still must not underestimate the devil's power. He is utterly evil, deeply frustrated, and in a mighty fury. Here on earth we have to contend "against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of heavenly wickedness" (Ephesians 6:10-12).

The End ...
