SEVEN SIGNS (4-1): THE FALSE PROPHET APPEARS FROM THE EARTH (REVELATION 13:11)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Revelation

a) John wrote Revelation while a prisoner on the Island of Patmos, approximately 85-95 A.D. Its purpose is to give encouragement and hope for all Christians to continue watching for the return and triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ. It also is to warn of the Final Judgment that nonbelievers will endure on that Last Day.

b) John wrote that Revelation is special because,“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near” (Revelation 1:3).

c) A brief view of the Book of Revelation. It gives you some basic understanding of the book of Revelation.

2. The Beast From The Earth

Revelation 13:11
11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb and he spoke as a dragon.

3. The False Prophet Appears From The Earth

Revelation 13:11

a) From the earth

i) An angel had announced, "Woe to the inhabitants of earth and sea, for the Devil has come down to you..." (Revelation 12:12). In the vision after that, a beast arose from the sea. This was followed by the vision we are now studying, in which a beast arises from the earth. He is the beast called the False Prophet.

4. His False Priesthood

Revelation 13:11

a) Lamb and dragon

i) The False Prophet has two horns like a lamb, but he speaks like a dragon. The resemblance to a lamb indicates priesthood, but his priesthood is false because his words are the false and lying doctrines of the Dragon. This is why he is called “the false prophet” (Revelation 16:13).

The End ...
