DON’T RUSH GOD

Impatience can cause us to make decisions that faith would never make.

When we become tired of waiting, we may attempt to manufacture what God has not yet provided.

We may force relationships.

Force opportunities.

Force ministry doors.

Force decisions.

Force outcomes.

But something being possible does not necessarily mean it is God's will.

KEY SCRIPTURE

“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him.” — Psalm 37:7

There is a profound spiritual discipline in refusing to rush what God has not completed.

ABRAHAM RUSHED THE PROMISE

God had promised Abraham a son.

But the waiting became difficult.

Sarah and Abraham attempted to solve the situation through human initiative, resulting in the birth of Ishmael through Hagar.

God eventually fulfilled His promise concerning Isaac according to His own word.

The lesson is not that every human action is wrong.

The lesson is that impatience can cause us to create alternatives to what God has promised.

A FAST DOOR IS NOT ALWAYS A GOD DOOR

Sometimes something becomes available and we immediately assume it must be God's provision.

But availability is not the same as divine assignment.

A door can open and still not be the door God wants you to walk through.

That is why discernment matters.

THE TWIST

You can receive something before you are ready for it.

And sometimes the blessing you are trying to obtain quickly could become a burden if received prematurely.

WHAT CAN I LEARN?

I can learn that God's timing protects me.

I can learn that impatience can make me vulnerable to poor decisions.

I can learn that waiting is sometimes an act of wisdom.

HOW DOES IT APPLY TO ME?

Before rushing into a decision, pray.

Seek biblical wisdom.

Examine your motives.

Consider the consequences.

Ask whether you are moving because God is leading or because you are tired of waiting.

FINAL REFLECTION

Are you trying to make something happen simply because you are uncomfortable waiting for God?

CONCLUSION

Don't rush God.

What God does in His time is worth waiting for.

PRAYER

Lord, deliver me from impatience. Help me not to force doors, manufacture opportunities, or make decisions simply because I am tired of waiting. Give me discernment to recognize Your direction and patience to follow Your timing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
