HEALTH FACTORS
(Message by Tanny Keng)
0. Introduction
a) 1 Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—3who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases. (Psalms 103:1-3 NIV)
b) Our Lord says that he is "Jehovah Rapha" our healer.
i) 26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26 NIV)
c) We must realize that God is the creator of our human bodies and he is the only one that knows fully how our bodies function. Therefore we must go back to God's instruction book; the Bible to gain excellent health and long life. God's way to health is through holy living, healthy diet and biblical lifestyle. The way to restore wellness to our bodies is to eliminate what caused the physical problem and then give the body building materials it needs to restore and rebuild itself.
d) God has programmed into our DNA at creation this ability to self-heal. The most important things needed for self-healing are fresh air, pure water, adequate rest, internal and external cleanliness, sunshine and exercise, God given natural whole food and faith in God. Through all these health factores we are able to rebuild and restore our body's self-healing mechanism, our immune system.
1. Fresh Air
a) God breathed into Adam the "breath of life" and Adam became a "living soul." Our earthly life is maintained by oxygen in the air. At birth, every child takes its first breath and continues every minute to inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide throughout his / her whole lifespan. The greatest need of our body is fresh air. Approximately 96% of our nutritional need come from the oxygen in the air, while only 4% come from the food we eat.
i) The quality of air (its purity) we breathe affects the quality and length of the life we live. Smoking cuts off oxygen supply by coating the surface areas of the lung with tars. This lack of oxygen is a good breading ground for sicknesses.
ii) When oxygen supply is increased to the brain (through deep breathing or exercise), mental abilities will increase and the brain will become more alert. Decrease the supply of oxygen to the brain (through smoking, air pollution and a sedentary life), oxygen supply to the brain is cut off; parts of the brain will die and causes paralysis in various parts of the body.
2. Exercise
a) 19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19 NIV)
b) God has ordained man to exercise; it was programmed into man's search and provision for food. Man's original occupation was a farmer, getting all his food supply by tilling the ground. This exercise will grant man all the necessary exercise to keep him healthy.
i) 15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Genesis 2:15 NIV)
c) Exercise causes deep breathing, which brings more oxygen into the lungs and bloodstream. It also causes a flushing of the veins and arteries, which removes obstructions to the free-flow of blood. This oxygen-rich food is then carried to the cells where they become energized and starts vigorously cleaning house, rebuilding and rejuvenating the cells. Exercise also causes the flow of lymphatic fluids which bathes the body cells, providing continuous cleansing in our body systems.
3. Pure Water
a) 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." (John 7:38 NIV)
b) Along with oxygen, water is one of the two most important elements on earth in sustaining our life. Everything our bodies do, it needs water to do it. About 70% of our body is composed of water and that drinking pure water is one of the easiest and most important steps we can take to improve our health.
c) Water constitutes, regulates, flows through, cleanses, and helps nourish every single part of our body. But the wrong kind of water, with inorganic materials, chemicals and other contaminants, can pollute, clog up and turn to stone in every part of our body.
d) Dr. Morman Walker estimates that in 4,500 gallons of water, will include 200 to 300 pounds of rock; inorganic calcium, magnesium, and other mineral deposits which our body cannot utilize. The body's water, blood, and lymphatic systems to be eliminated through excretory channels will collect most of these inorganic minerals. But some of this 200 to 300 pounds of rock will stay in the body causing stiffness in the joints, hardening of the arteries, kidney stones, gall stones and blockages of arteries, microscopic capillaries and other passages in which liquids flow through our entire body. It is vital to understand the difference between organic and inorganic minerals. Our body cannot utilize inorganic mineral but only organic ones. Plants cannot transform inorganic minerals from the ground by photosynthesis into organic minerals.
e) Our bodies can obtain pure water from 3 sources.
i) Distilled water.
ii) Eating live, raw fruits and vegetables.
iii) Drinking freshly extracted juices of raw fruits and vegetables.
4. Prayer focus
a) Pray that we will use the combined health factors to enable us to rebuild and restore our body's self-healing mechanism, our immune system just as God has intended.
