PROPHETS OF OLD - DANIEL
(Message by Tanny Keng)
0. Introduction
a) 13 Yet the Lord testified against Israel and against Judah, by all of His prophets, every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.” (2 Kings 17:13 NKJV)
b) Who were these prophets? They were the ones who tried to turn their nations back to God. Predicting the future as revealed by God was just one part of a prophet's job; his main role was to preach God's word to the people - warning, instructing, and encouraging them to live as they ought.
c) Here is one of them.
1. Who?
a) Daniel.
2. When?
a) 605-536 B.C.
3. Ministered during the reign of these kings:
a) Prophesied as an exile in Babylon during the reigns of Nebuchadnezzar, Darius the Medes, and Cyrus of Persia.
b) Scripture text: The book of Daniel.
4. Main message
a) Describes both near and distant future events - throughout it all, God is sovereign and triumphant.
5. Significance
a) We should spend less time wondering when these events will happen and more time learning how we should live now so we won't be victims of those events.
