SWARM OF LOCUSTS
(Message by Tanny Keng)
0. Introduction
a) Amos had a series of visions concerning God's judgment on Israel. God was planning to judge Israel by sending a swarm of locusts or by sending fire. In spite of Amos's intercession on Israel's behalf, God would still carry out his judgment because Israel persisted in her disobedience.
1. Vision
a) Swarm of locusts
2. Text reference: Amos 7:1-3
i) Thus the Lord God showed me: Behold, He formed locust swarms at the beginning of the late crop; indeed it was the late crop after the king’s mowing. 2 And so it was, when they had finished eating the grass of the land, that I said: “O Lord God, forgive, I pray! Oh, that Jacob may stand, For he is small!” 3 So the Lord relented concerning this. “It shall not be,” said the Lord. (Amos 7:1-3 NKJV)
3. Significance
a) God was preparing punishment, when he delayed only because of Amos's intervention.
