TRUE IDENTITY IN CHRIST (1)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

0. Introduction

a) What is our true identity in Christ?

1. We are justified - declared "not guilty" of sin (Romans 3:24).

i) 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:24 NKJV)

2. No condemnation awaits us (Romans 8:1).

i) There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:1 NKJV)

3. We are set free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).

i) 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2 NKJV)

4. We are sanctified and make acceptable in Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:2).

i) 2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours. (1 Corinthians 1:2 NKJV)

5. We are righteous and holy in Christ (1 Corinthians 1:30).

i) 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. (1 Corinthians 1:30 NKJV)

6. We will be made alive at the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:22)

i) 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:22 NKJV)

7. We are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

i) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV)

8. We receive God's righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21).

i) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV)
