Hymn writer (lyrics): Knowles Shaw (1834 - 1878)

Music composer: George A. Minor (1845 - 1904)

Notes

 Born in the southwestern part of the state of Ohio, Shaw was a member of the Disciples of Christ.

He died tragically in a Texas train wreck at the age of 43.


During his short ministry it is believed Shaw baptized roughly 20,000 people.


George Minor served in the American Civil War 

(which ran from 1861 - 1865) as Chief of Ordnance for the Confederacy.


Palestine's Year of Agriculture and God's Holy Days

a) God's seven annual Holy or Feast Days occur within three major periods of time, each of which comes during an important harvest.

1. January and February

a) Planting of millet, peas, lentils, melons, cucumbers, etc.

2. March and April

a) Harvesting of flax

3. April and May

a) Harvest of the Barley

4. Late March - April Timeframe

a) The Christian Passover and God's Feast of Unleavened Bread (running for seven days) are celebrated.

5. May and June

a) Wheat Harvest

b) Observance of Holy Day called Feast of Pentecost (also known as Feast of Weeks, Feast of Harvest or Day of Firstfruits)

6. June

a) First ripe figs are harvested

7. June and July

a) Tending to vines

8. August

a) Main harvest of figs

9. July to September

a) Harvest of grapes

10. September and October

a) Olive harvest

b) Observance of God's Feast Days known as Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah), Atonement (Yom Kippur), Feast of Tabernacles (kept for seven days) and Last Great Day (a single day which immediately follows Tabernacles)

11. November and December

a) Planting grains
