0. Introduction
a) Since many of the proverbs came from King Solomon, it is natural to expect some of his interest to be directed toward leadership.
1. Qualities of good leadership
a) Diligence (Proverbs 12:24)
i) 24 The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor. (Proverbs 12:24 NKJV)
b) Faithful ambassadors (Proverbs 13:17)
i) 17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble, But a faithful ambassador brings health. (Proverbs 13:17 NKJV)
c) Don't penalize people for integrity (Proverbs 17:26)
i) 26 Also, to punish the righteous is not good, Nor to strike princes for their uprightness. (Proverbs 17:26 NKJV)
d) Listen before answering (Proverbs 18:13)
i) 13 He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him. (Proverbs 18:13 NKJV)
e) Able to discern (Proverbs 18:15)
i) 15 The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. (Proverbs 18:15 NKJV)
f) Listen to both sides of the story (Proverbs 18:17)
i) 17 The first one to plead his cause seems right, Until his neighbor comes and examines him. (Proverbs 18:17 NKJV)
g) Able to stand up under adversity (Proverbs 24:10)
i) 10 If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small. (Proverbs 24:10 NKJV)
h) Able to stand up under praise (Proverbs 27:21)
i) 21 The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, And a man is valued by what others say of him. (Proverbs 27:21 NKJV)
