OLD & NEW SYSTEMS OF SACRIFICE
(Message by Tanny Keng)

a) Let's make a comparison between the old system of sacrifice and the new system of sacrifice in the Bible.
1. Old system of sacrifice: "Was temporary" (Hebrews 8:13)
i) 13 In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. (Hebrews 8:13 NKJV)
a) New system of sacrifice: "Is permanent" (Hebrews 7:21)
i) 21 for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him who said to Him:
2. Old system of sacrifice: "Aaron first high priest" (Exodus 40:13)
i) 13 You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest. (Exodus 40:13 NKJV)
a) New system of sacrifice: "Jesus only HIgh Priest" (Hebrews 4:14)
i) 14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. (Hebrews 4:14 NKJV)
3. Old system of sacrifice: From tribe of Levi (Hebrews 7:15-16)
i) 15 And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of Melchizedek, there arises another priest 16 who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life. (Hebrews 7:15-16 NKJV)
a) New system of sacrifice: From tribe of Judah (Hebrews 7:14)
i) 14 For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood. (Hebrews 7:14 NKJV)
4. Old system of sacrifice: "Ministered on earth (Hebrews 8:4)
i) 4 For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law. (Hebrews 8:4)
a) New system of sacrifice: "Ministered in heaven (Hebrews 8:1-2)
i) Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2 a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man. (Hebrews 8:1-2 NKJV)
5. Old system of sacrifice: Used blood of animals (Leviticus 16:15)
i) 15 “Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, which is for the people, bring its blood inside the veil, do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat. (Leviticus 16:15 NKJV)
a) New system of sacrifice: "Uses blood of Christ" (Hebrews 10:4-12)
i) 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. 5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin, You had no pleasure. 7 Then I said, Behold, I have come—In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O God.’”
11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God. (Hebrews 10:4-12 NKJV)
6. Old system of sacrifice: "Required many sacrifices (Hebrews 10:1-3)
i) For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. (Hebrews 10:1-3 NKJV)
a) New system of sacrifice: "Requires one sacrifice (Hebrews 9:28)
i) 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. (Hebrews 9:28 NKJV)
7. Old system of sacrifice: "Needed perfect animals (Leviticus 22:19)
i) 19 you shall offer of your own free will a male without blemish from the cattle, from the sheep, or from the goats. (Leviticus 22:19 NKJV)
a) New system of sacrifice: "Needs a perfect life" (Hebrews 5:9)
i) 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. (Hebrews 5:9 NKJV)
8. Old system of sacrifice: Required careful approach to tabernacle" (Leviticus 16:2)
i) 2 and the Lord said to Moses: “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud above the mercy seat. (Leviticus 16:2 NKJV)
a) New system of sacrifice: "Encourages confident approach to throne" (Hebrews 4:16)
i) 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebews 4:16 NKJV)
9. Old system of sacrifice: "Looked forward to new system" (Hebrews 10:1)
i) For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. (Hebrews 10:1 NKJV)
a) New system of sacrifice: "Sets aside old system" (Hebrews 10:9)
i) 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. (Hebrews 10:9)

“The Lord has sworn, And will not relent, ‘You are a priest forever, According to the order of Melchizedek’” (Hebrews 7:21 NKJV)
2. Old system of sacrifice: "Aaron first high priest" (Exodus 40:13)
i) 13 You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest. (Exodus 40:13 NKJV)

8 Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God. (Hebrews 10:4-12 NKJV)
