REJECTION (1)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Bible Topic

a) To learn what the Bible has to say on a variety of topics affecting our everyday lives, we may find what we are looking for here.

2. Rejection

a) God's children may experience rejection by friends and family. It's in the Bible, Mark 6:4, NIV. "Jesus said to them, 'Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor.'" Psalms 27:10, NIV says, "Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me."

b) If you are rejected for your faith, you are in good company. It's in the Bible, Matthew 5:11-12, NKJV. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

c) In spite of God's constant care and wonders, the Israelites rejected His leading. It's in the Bible, Numbers 14:11, NKJV. " Then the LORD said to Moses: “How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them?"

d) Jesus himself expressed pain over rejection. It's in the Bible, Luke 13:34, NIV. "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!"

e) Jesus was despised and rejected by men—He understands how it feels. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 53:3, NIV. "He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering."
