ELISHA: DECEPTION OF THE SYRIANS WITH THE SOUND OF CHARIOTS
(Message by Tanny Keng)
a) Before Elijah was caught up to heaven in the whirlwind, his understudy Elisha requested a double portion of Elijah's spirit
2 Kings 2:9 (NKJV)
9 And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”
b) Elijah being under the inspiration of God then replied that Elisha's request would be granted provided that the younger prophet were with him at the time he was taken away. The scriptures then record that this condition was fulfilled.
c) After reading of the spectacular career of Elijah, it is difficult to believe that any man could have a double portion of his spirit, yet it came to pass that exactly twice as many miracles were done in the ministry of Elisha as in that of Elijah.
2. Elisha: Deception Of The Syrians With The Sound Of Chariots
2 Kings 7:6 (NKJV)
6 For the Lord had caused the army of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and the noise of horses - the noise of a great army; so they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us!”
