ELISHA: PROPHECY OF THE END OF THE GREAT FAMINE

1. Double Portion Of Elijah's Spirit

a) Before Elijah was caught up to heaven in the whirlwind, his understudy Elisha requested a double portion of Elijah's spirit

2 Kings 2:9 (NKJV)

9 And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

b) Elijah being under the inspiration of God then replied that Elisha's request would be granted provided that the younger prophet were with him at the time he was taken away. The scriptures then record that this condition was fulfilled. 

c) After reading of the spectacular career of Elijah, it is difficult to believe that any man could have a double portion of his spirit, yet it came to pass that exactly twice as many miracles were done in the ministry of Elisha as in that of Elijah. 

2. Elisha: Prophecy Of The End Of The Great Famine

2 Kings 7:1 (NKJV)
7 Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’
