ELISHA: PROPHECY OF HAZAEL'S CRUELTY TO ISRAEL

1. Double Portion Of Elijah's Spirit

a) Before Elijah was caught up to heaven in the whirlwind, his understudy Elisha requested a double portion of Elijah's spirit

2 Kings 2:9 (NKJV)

9 And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

b) Elijah being under the inspiration of God then replied that Elisha's request would be granted provided that the younger prophet were with him at the time he was taken away. The scriptures then record that this condition was fulfilled. 

c) After reading of the spectacular career of Elijah, it is difficult to believe that any man could have a double portion of his spirit, yet it came to pass that exactly twice as many miracles were done in the ministry of Elisha as in that of Elijah. 

2. Elisha: Prophecy Of Hazael's Cruelty To Israel

2 Kings 8:12 (NKJV)
12 And Hazael said, “Why is my lord weeping?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel: Their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword; and you will dash their children, and rip open their women with child.”
