0. Jesus & the 10 commandments
(Text: Exodus 20:3-17)

1. 1st Commandment

a) The 10 Commandments said ...

i) ³ “You shall have no other gods before Me." (Exodus 20:3 NKJV)

b) Jesus said ...

i)  ¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” (Matthew 4:10 NKJV)

2. 2nd Commandment

a) The 10 Commandments said ...

i) ⁴ “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth." (Exodus 20:4 NKJV) 

b) Jesus said ...

i) ¹³ “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Luke 16:13 NKJV)

3. 3rd Commandment

a) The 10 Commandments said ...

i) ⁷ “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain." (Exodus 20:7 NKJV)

b) Jesus said ...

i) ³⁴ But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne. (Matthew 5:34 NKJV)

4. 4th Commandment

a) The 10 Commandments said ...

i) ⁸ “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." (Exodus 20:8 NKJV)

b) Jesus said ...

i) ²⁷ And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. ²⁸ Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27-28 NKJV)

5. 5th Commandment

a) The 10 Commandments said ...

i) ¹² “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you." (Exodus 20:12 NKJV)

b) Jesus said ...

i) ³⁷ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. (Matthew 10:37 NKJV)
