BE A PEACEMAKER
Bible Verse: Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
1-Minute Explanation
Jesus does not call His followers to become people who simply avoid conflict. He calls them to become peacemakers. Avoiding conflict can sometimes preserve temporary silence without resolving the underlying problem. Peacemaking requires wisdom, humility, truth and love. It seeks reconciliation without compromising righteousness.
THE TWIST
The question is not simply, “How can I avoid conflict?” The deeper question is, “What can I do to bring peace into this situation?” Sometimes peace requires a difficult conversation, an apology, forgiveness or a willingness to listen.
WHAT CAN I LEARN?
I learn that peace is something I can actively contribute to. I should not always expect someone else to make the first move.
HOW DOES IT APPLY TO ME?
Where have I contributed to conflict? Is there someone with whom reconciliation may be possible? Am I holding onto an argument simply because I want to be proven right?
FINAL REFLECTIONS
Being right is not always the highest goal. Sometimes winning an argument can cost a relationship. Wisdom knows when truth must be spoken and when pride must be surrendered.
PRAYER
Lord, make me a peacemaker. Give me wisdom in difficult relationships and humility when I have contributed to conflict. Help me speak truth with love and pursue reconciliation wherever it is possible and appropriate. In Jesus' name, Amen.
TAKEAWAY
Do not merely avoid conflict; become an instrument of peace.
