THE JOY OF THE LORD (1)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. The Joy of the Lord
a) When we do those things that please God we can experience His joy. As God’s love is manifested in us, and revealed through us touching others, we share His Joy.
(Jeremiah 9:23-24 NKJV)
Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; {24} But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the LORD.
b) These are the things that God has called us to do, and these are the things that as Christians we are anointed to do. The same anointing that was on Christ is on us and in us. We are to bring the good news of the gospel, to heal the brokenhearted, to set people free from bondage, to comfort those who mourn, and to bring the oil of joy, the Holy Spirit, to replace despair so that the people can put on the garment of praise to God. All these things delight and glorify God. The glory of God is the manifestation and revelation of His Love to people.
(Isaiah 61:1-3 NKJV)
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; {2} To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, {3} To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
