THE NAMES OF JESUS (3)

0. Introduction

a) Scattered among the vivid images of the book of Revelation is a large collection of names for Jesus. Each one tells something of his character and highlights a particular aspect of his role within God' plan of redemption.

1. Reference: Revelation 5:5

i) 5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” (Revelation 5:5 NKJV)

a) Jesus' Name

i) The Lion of the tribe of Judah.

2. Reference: Revelation 5:6

i) 6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. (Revelation 5:6 NKJV)

a) Jesus' Name

i) Lamb.

3. Reference: Revelation 7:17

i) 17 for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. (Revelation 7:17 NKJV)

a) Jesus' Name

i) Shepherd.

4. Reference: Revelation  12:10

i) 10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. (Revelation 12:10 NKJV)

a) Jesus' Name

i) Christ.

5. Reference: Revelation 19:11

i) 11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. (Revelation 19:11 NKJV)

a) Jesus' Name

i) Faithful and True.
