LOST JOY
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. Lost Joy
a) We loose joy by grieving the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is grieved when we no longer submit humbly in obedience to God’s will, and when we restrict God’s Love from flowing through us to touch others. When this happens we become separated from our source of Love, Joy, and Peace, the Holy Spirit. Some things that can cause the Holy Spirit to be grieved are being unthankful, corrupt communication, and reacting in anger, which is wounded pride. Humility before God and man restores our relationship with God and allows the Holy Spirit to continue His work in our lives, this restores our joy in the Lord.
(Romans 14:15-19 NKJV)
Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died. {16} Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; {17} for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. {18} For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men. {19} Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.
(Ephesians 4:26-32 NKJV)
“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, {27} nor give place to the devil. {28}… {29} Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. {30} And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. {31} Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. {32} And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
(1 Thessalonians 5:15-19 NKJV)
See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. {16} Rejoice always, {17} pray without ceasing, {18} in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. {19} Do not quench the Spirit.
(1 John 3:17-24 NKJV)
But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? {18} My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. {19} And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. …{24} Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
