THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS (9)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. The message of the Cross
a)The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
2. Other Scriptures
(John 17:1-2 NKJV)
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, {2} “as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.
(John 19:10-11 NKJV)
Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?” {11} Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”
(Acts 2:36-39 NKJV)
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” {37} Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” {38} Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. {39} “For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
(Acts 3:18-23 NKJV)
“But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. {19} “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, {20} “and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, {21} “whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. {22} “For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. {23} ‘And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’
