THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS (10)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. The message of the Cross
a)The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
2. Other Scriptures
(Acts 4:8-13 NKJV)
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: {9} “If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, {10} “let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. {11} “This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ {12} “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” {13} Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
(Romans 5:8-9 NKJV)
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. {9} Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
(Romans 6:3-8 NKJV)
Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? {4} Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. {5} For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, {6} knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. {7} For he who has died has been freed from sin. {8} Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.
