THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS (5)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. The message of the Cross

a)The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the  understanding of the prudent.”

2. Other Scriptures

(Luke 18:31-34 NKJV)
Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. {32} “For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. {33} “They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.” {34} But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.

(Luke 22:15-20 NKJV)
Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; {16} “for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” {17} Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; {18} “for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” {19} And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” {20} Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

(Luke 22:41-43 NKJV)
And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, {42} saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” {43} Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

(Luke 24:25-27 NKJV)
Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! {26} “Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” {27} And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
