THE EFFECT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. The effect of the Holy Spirit
a) God’s Holy Spirit in us, as Christians, is our greatest gift from God. When we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit we receive the gift and the giver, because the gift is the giver. The Holy Spirit is our unity with God, our source of communication from God, and the guarantee that we are His children.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. (Romans 8:14-17)
b) The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Love.
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. (Romans 5:5)
c) When we walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit we experience inner love, joy and peace.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-25)
d) God is pouring out His Holy Spirit.
“But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. (Acts 2:16-18)
e) The Holy Spirit is promised to those who receive Jesus Christ as savior.
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. “For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:38-39)
f) The Holy Spirit is promised to those who ask.
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:13)
g) The only limitation to God’s Holy Spirit in you, is you.
For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. (John 3:34)
h) The Holy Spirit produces rivers of liquid life inside you.
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. (John 7:37-39)
i) The Holy Spirit is given to you so that you can be a blessing to others. (1 Corinthians 12:7)
j) But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: …..(1 Corinthians 12:11)
k) But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
