REPENTANCE (2)
(Message by Tanny Keng)
1. Repentance
a) Approaching God always begins with repentance. Repentance means turning away from everything that keeps you from a holy relationship with God, and turning toward God with your whole heart. Jesus says that He came to call sinners to repentance. There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
2. Other Scriptures
(1 Samuel 7:3-4)
Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.” {4} So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the LORD only.
(2 Kings 23:25)
Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.
(2 Chronicles 15:2-4)
And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. {3} “For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law; {4} “but when in their trouble they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.
