REPENTANCE (9)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Repentance

a) Approaching God always begins with repentance. Repentance means turning away from everything that keeps you from a holy relationship with God, and turning toward God with your whole heart. Jesus says that He came to call sinners to repentance. There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

2. Other Scriptures

(Luke 13:2-5)
And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? {3} “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. {4} “Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? {5} “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

(Luke 15:6-7)
“And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ {7} “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

(Luke 15:9-10)
“And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ {10} “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
