Introduction

It is a lie that has caused countless believers to settle for less than God's best, to give up on their dreams, and to resign themselves to a life of mediocrity and resignation. It is a lie that has stolen hope, killed vision, and destroyed destiny.

But the Word of God declares a radically different truth. There is more ahead. Your best days are not behind you. Your greatest victories have not yet been won. Your most significant contributions have not yet been made. Your deepest joys have not yet been experienced. The future God has for you is bright. It is full of hope. It is filled with purpose. It is packed with potential. There is more ahead.

What We Often Get Wrong

The first and most common error is that we believe our best days are behind us. We look back at the past with nostalgia and assume that the future will be less than the past. Sixth, we compare our journey to others. We look at others who seem to be experiencing success and wonder why we are struggling. We look at others who seem to be blessed and wonder why we are not. But comparison is a trap. God has a unique plan for each of us. The timeline for your breakthrough is different from the timeline for someone else. God has more for you. There is more ahead.

Seventh, we forget that God's work in us is ongoing. We think that we have arrived. We think that we have reached the pinnacle. We think that there is nothing more to learn, nothing more to grow, nothing more to experience. But God is not finished with you yet. He who began a good work in you will complete it. Practical Application

Change Your Focus: Stop looking back. Stop dwelling on the past. Stop rehearsing your failures and your disappointments. Change your focus. Look forward. Look to what God is doing now. Look to what He has promised to do. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth (Colossians 3:2).

Believe God's Promises: God has promised you a future and a hope. He has promised to complete the work He started in you. He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you. He has promised to work all things together for your good. Believe His promises. Declare them over your life. Let them be the anchor for your soul.

Surround Yourself with Hopeful People: The people you surround yourself with will influence your outlook. Surround yourself with people who are hopeful, who are optimistic, who believe in God's goodness. Avoid people who are negative, cynical, and pessimistic. Let hope be contagious in your life.

Thank God for What Is Ahead: Even before you see it, thank God for what He is going to do. Thank Him for the future He has prepared for you. Thank Him for the hope that is within you. Thank Him for the more that is ahead. Gratitude prepares your heart to receive what God is about to do.
