WHY NOT USE THE NAME OF JESUS? | HAVE WE FORGOTTEN!

A Response to "Why Not Use the Name of Jesus? Have We Forgotten?"

The Legacy Jesus Left

When Jesus ascended to heaven, He left a legacy of two utmost important elements for humanity: His shed blood at the cross of Calvary and His all-powerful name. His shed blood was for the redemption of mankind, and His name is for the redeemed on earth. These are not just historical facts; they are living realities. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin, and the name of Jesus gives us authority, access, and victory. We are not left defenseless or powerless. We have the blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel, and we have the name that is above every name. The question is, are we using what He has given us? Have we forgotten the power that is in His name?

The Name of Jesus in Scripture

The name of Jesus is not just a label; it is a revelation of His person and His power. It is the name through which salvation comes. Acts 4:12 declares, "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." There is no other way to be saved. There is no other name that can save. The name of Jesus is the only name that brings forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life. John 14:13 promises, "Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." The name of Jesus is the key that unlocks the treasures of heaven. It is the authority by which we pray, the power by which we act, and the confidence by which we approach the Father.

The Authority of His Name

Luke 10:17 records the joy of the seventy-two disciples who returned and said, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!" The name of Jesus has authority over the powers of darkness. Demons must flee. Sickness must bow. Circumstances must yield. Romans 10:13 declares, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Salvation is available to all who call on His name. First Corinthians 6:11 reminds us, "You were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." The name of Jesus is the means by which we are cleansed, set apart, and declared righteous. Acts 2:38 calls us to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Acts 22:16 urges us to rise and be baptized and wash away our sins, calling on His name. Acts 3:6 records Peter's declaration to the lame man, "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!" Acts 4:30 speaks of signs and wonders performed through the name of Jesus. Acts 8:12 tells of those who believed and were baptized in the name of Jesus. John 14:14 repeats the promise, "If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it." John 16:26 assures us that in that day we will ask in His name. John 3:18 warns that whoever does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. Mark 16:17 declares, "In my name they will cast out demons." Matthew 28:19 commands us to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Proverbs 18:10 proclaims, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe." Psalm 68:4 calls us to sing praises to His name.

The Reasons Why

Why is the name of Jesus so powerful? Philippians 2:10-11 declares, "At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." The name of Jesus is above every name. Every power, every principality, every authority must bow to His name. Matthew 28:18 says, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." That authority is not just for Jesus; it is delegated to us. When we use His name, we are acting in His authority. We are exercising the power He has given us. We are enforcing the victory He has already won.

Have We Forgotten?

The question is, have we forgotten? Have we forgotten the power of His name? Have we forgotten the authority we have been given? Have we forgotten that we can pray in His name and see mountains move? Have we forgotten that we can speak in His name and see demons flee? Have we forgotten that we can call on His name and be saved? The name of Jesus is not just a word; it is a weapon. It is not just a title; it is a token of His presence and power. Use it. Pray in it. Proclaim it. Stand on it. The name of Jesus is still powerful. It is still effective. It is still the name above every name.

Final Reflection

Why not use the name of Jesus? It is our authority. It is our access. It is our victory. Do not neglect what Jesus has given you. Do not forget the power that is in His name. Pray in His name. Preach in His name. Heal in His name. Cast out demons in His name. Live in His name. And give all the glory to Him.

Prayer in the Name of Jesus

Lord, I thank You for the power of Your name. I thank You that at the name of Jesus every knee must bow. I thank You that I have been given authority to use Your name. Help me to remember the power that is in Your name. Help me to pray in Your name with faith and confidence. Help me to proclaim Your name with boldness. Let Your name be glorified in my life. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
