LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR

Bible Verse: Mark 12:31

“Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

1-Minute Explanation

Jesus places love at the centre of Christian living. Loving people is more than having positive feelings toward them. Biblical love expresses itself through patience, kindness, forgiveness, generosity, compassion and practical concern. It is especially significant when the other person is difficult to love. Christian love is not based entirely on whether someone deserves our kindness; it flows from the love we have received from God.

THE TWIST

The question is not simply, “Who deserves my love?” The deeper question is, “Who has God placed around me that I have an opportunity to love?”

WHAT CAN I LEARN?

I learn that love must become visible. Saying that I love people means little if my actions consistently communicate indifference, hostility or selfishness.

HOW DOES IT APPLY TO ME?

Who around me needs patience, encouragement, forgiveness or practical help? Is there someone I have intentionally avoided because loving them is inconvenient? I should ask God to show me how to demonstrate Christ's love in practical ways.

FINAL REFLECTIONS

Love is often demonstrated in ordinary moments. A kind word, patient response, generous action or willingness to listen can become a powerful expression of Christ.

PRAYER

Lord, teach me to love people as You have commanded. Remove selfishness, prejudice and resentment from my heart. Help me love not merely with words but through practical actions. Give me patience with difficult people and compassion for those who are hurting. In Jesus' name, Amen.

TAKEAWAY

Christian love becomes real when it becomes visible.
