HONEY FROM THE ROCK (2)

1. Can we be sure of this?

i) 24Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24 NIV)

2. How much honey are we giving out?

i) Allowing spiritual honey to flow from our lips.

ii) Pleasant nurturing word that is sweet to the soul.

iii) Sweetness to the soul also causes health to the bones since so many ailments are because of soul issues.

3. What if we ask God to put honey on our lips?

i) That God would put words in our mouth, His words that would exhort other people.

ii) Words like honey that would cause sweetness to their soul, not our own sweetness but spiritual honey flowing into the lives of other people.

iii) The children of Israel ate manna every day. 31The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey. (Exodus 16:31 NIV)

iv) Food but with sweetness.

v) It’s interesting that God not only feeds us and sustains us but there is sweetness and a healing quality to our souls.

vi) This next verse is a prophecy concerning Jesus. 15He will be eating curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, (Isaiah 7:15 NIV)

vii) The word “curds” in some translations say butter but the Old Testament meaning here refers to thick curdled milk.

viii) 2Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. (1 Peter 2:2, 3 NIV)

ix) Not only the milk or the word but honey, an inherent sweetness.

4. Why delight ourselves in the Lord?

i) Because of the inherent sweetness.

ii) Because we see a sweetness flowing from the Word but also remembering that Jesus Christ was the living word made flesh.

5. Prayer focus

a) Pray for spiritual honey, an inherent sweetness from the Lord Jesus Christ.

b) Pray that God would put words in our mouth, His words that would exhort other people. Words like honey that would cause sweetness to their soul, not our own sweetness but spiritual honey flowing into the lives of other people.

c) Pray that when we speak words of life into someone not only is it meat but there is an inherent sweetness that is healing to the soul.
