UNTIE!

(Message by Tanny Keng)

0. Introduction

a) As I was sitting and praying in my house on Tuesday, 03/04/2012, the Lord showed me a letter 'U' and I was wondering what the Lord was trying to tell me. Then, the meaning of letter 'U' came:

1. The meaning of the letter 'U'

a) The letter 'U' means 'Untie' which means:

i) To undo or loosen.

ii) To set free from something that binds or restrains: untie a donkey from a tree.

iii) To set free from confinement, restraint, or bondage: released from captivity.

iv) To relieve of debt or obligation.

2. Message pointers

2.1 To undo or loosen

a) Jesus' reply to Peter

i) 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19 NIV)

2.2 To set free from something that binds or restrains: untie a donkey from a tree

a) Jesus comes to Jerusalem as king

i) 1As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away." 4This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5"Say to Daughter Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'" 6The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest heaven!" 10When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?" 11The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee." (Matthew 21:1-11 NIV)

2.3 To set free from confinement, restraint, or bondage: released from captivity

a) Jesus' reply to the believing Jews

i) 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36 NIV)

b) Life through the Spirit

i) 1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1, 2 NIV)

2.4 To relieve of debt or obligation

a) The widow's olive oil

i) 1The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves." 2Elisha replied to her, "How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?" "Your servant has nothing there at all," she said, "except a small jar of olive oil." 3Elisha said, "Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don't ask for just a few. 4Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side." 5She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. 6When all the jars were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another one." But he replied, "There is not a jar left." Then the oil stopped flowing. 7She went and told the man of God, and he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left." (2 Kings 4:1-7 NIV)

b) Future prosperity of Israel and Judah

i) 27"The days are coming," declares the Lord, "when I will plant the kingdoms of Israel and Judah with the offspring of people and of animals. 28Just as I watched over them to uproot and tear down, and to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant," declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 31:27, 28 NIV)

3. Prayer focus

a) Pray for God to set us free from confinement, restraint and bondage.

b) Pray for God to set us free from debts.
