LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE

(Message by Tanny Keng)

0. Introduction

a) Light

i) 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16 NIV)

1. Are we the light of the world?

a) Can we hid a city that is sitting on top of a hill? Its light at night can be seen for miles. If we live for Christ, we will glow like lights, showing others what Christ is like.

b) It is important that we understand that no much of darkness can overcome a little light. In fact, light is the absence of darkness. That's why Jesus says that we are the light of the world. In us, there shouldn't be any darkness in our lives.

c) Our lights show the clear way for others to follow.

d) Without our lights they may be lost and groping in darkness.

e) Thus it is essential that we do not hide our light by:

i) being quiet when we should speak up.

ii) going along with the crowd and forget that the crowd should in fact be following us.

iii) hiding our light instead of allowing it to shine brightly.

iv) let secret sins dim our light.

v) not explaining our light to others.

vi) ignoring the needs of others.

2. Prayer focus

a) Pray that we let our light shine brightly so that others may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven.

The End.
